Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo has shared a humorous teaching about what he sees as differences in the way men and women notice social cues and details.
According to Okonkwo, women are often quicker to detect changes in tone, attitude and intention, while men may interpret the same interaction more literally.
He joked:
“For men, all good morning is good morning.”
Using another example, he said a woman may quickly notice when another woman is showing unusual interest in her husband, while the man may simply assume she is being friendly.
Okonkwo connected this idea to his broader teaching about focus and vision, arguing that men tend to concentrate more narrowly on a particular objective while women may be more attentive to multiple details happening around them.
He also referenced claims about differences in peripheral and straight-ahead vision between men and women. Those scientific claims are more nuanced than the sermon illustration suggests, so they should not be treated as fixed rules that apply to every man or woman.
His main point was less about biology and more about understanding that people can process situations differently.
And with his usual humor, he illustrated it this way:
“She’s looking straight, but she’s reading your chats. She’s saying, ‘Who is Linda?’”
