Pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie is sharing a deeply personal part of his testimony to remind people that no life is an accident in the eyes of God.
Laurie has openly shared that he was conceived outside marriage and wasn’t planned by his mother. In a recent message about abortion, he put it simply: “I was not planned. But God had a plan for my life.”
His childhood was far from easy. Laurie says his mother was married and divorced seven times and struggled with alcoholism. He grew up without the stability of a traditional Christian home and often wondered whether his life had meaning.
But everything began to change when Laurie encountered
Christians known as the “Jesus People” while he was a teenager. At 17, he put his faith in Jesus Christ—a decision that ultimately transformed the direction of his life.
Today, after decades of preaching the Gospel, Laurie looks back at his beginning very differently.
His mother may not have planned him, but he believes God did.
That message reaches far beyond Laurie’s own story.
Maybe your beginning wasn’t perfect. Maybe circumstances surrounding your birth were difficult.
Maybe you’ve even wondered whether your life has a purpose.
Scripture reminds us:
“You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.” — Psalm 139:16
Your circumstances don’t determine your worth. Your past doesn’t prevent God from using your future.
You are not an accident. God knows you, loves you, and your life has purpose
