Pastor W.F. Kumuyi has encouraged believers to remain focused on what God has called them to do rather than being drawn into unnecessary arguments, criticism and contention.
Teaching from Nehemiah 6:3, Kumuyi pointed to Nehemiah’s response when people repeatedly tried to distract him from rebuilding Jerusalem’s wall.
“I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down,” Nehemiah said.
Kumuyi explained that some opposition is designed specifically to interrupt progress and pull people away from their assignment.
“Keep on what the Lord has called you to,” he said.
According to him, Nehemiah was approached repeatedly, yet refused to abandon the work simply to answer every accusation.
Kumuyi warned that constantly leaving one’s assignment to defend oneself can become a distraction in itself.
“If you leave your work and you confront them, you will be defeated,” he said, explaining that a person may have grace for their assignment but not for endless contention.
He added:
“Your victory is that you will not listen to them.”
His message was simple: stay focused, refuse unnecessary battles and keep doing the work God has placed in your hands.
