Pastor Obinna Michael has advised Christians to look beyond humour, appearance and material considerations when choosing a spouse.
“Marry someone who grows you in God,” he said.
According to him, laughter and attraction are good, but they should not become the foundation of a relationship.
He argued that money, business success or physical appearance cannot by themselves sustain what he describes as a godly relationship.
“The only thing that holds a godly relationship is God first,” he said.
Referencing the biblical phrase, “In the beginning, God,” and Jesus’ words, “Without me, you can do nothing,” Michael said God should remain at the centre of Christian relationships.
His central message was that a lasting godly relationship should be built first on shared spiritual growth and commitment to God, not merely attraction or material advantages.
