Pastor Tola Odutola has spoken strongly about modesty, social media culture and what he describes as increasingly sexualised patterns in society.
He said social media has created an environment where revealing more of one’s body can often attract greater attention and followers, warning Christians not to allow popular culture to redefine their standards.
Odutola also recalled advising a woman preparing for marriage to dress modestly, explaining that although his church may not have rigid clothing rules, he believes Christian dressing should still reflect decency.
“I don’t want to be praying for you and be looking at your breasts when I’m praying,” he said, adding that the congregation should not be distracted by revealing outfits worn by brides or bridesmaids.
He further argued that things considered valuable are usually protected and covered, and dismissed the idea that modesty is simply an outdated standard.
“I might be old school, but God is older school,” he said.
His message was a call for Christians to examine the patterns they follow and ask whether those influences genuinely reflect their faith.
