In a recent social media post, Tonto said there was a time when people only saw the chaos around her, but did not understand the pain behind her actions.
According to her, addiction became an escape from emotional wounds she did not know how to deal with.
“Drugs weren’t the problem, they were the symptom. Addiction wasn’t my identity, it was my escape from pain I didn’t know how to name.”
She explained that although people may have judged her by her mistakes, she now believes God saw someone who was hurting and in need of healing.
Tonto also warned against drug use, saying substances do not take away pain but can gradually take control of a person’s life.
“Substances don’t make the pain go away. The hurt stays, and addiction slowly steals your life, one day at a time.”
Reflecting on her recovery, she described herself as proof that a person struggling with addiction is not beyond redemption.
“If God could pull me out, restore me, and give me a voice, then no soul is too far gone.”
She concluded by urging people not to give up on those battling addiction, encouraging them to keep praying and offering support rather than only judging their struggles.
