Tanzanian gospel group Essence of Worship shares a deeply devotional worship song titled “Mimi Siwezi.” The Swahili title expresses the message, “I can do nothing without You,” pointing to complete dependence on Jesus. The song was released in 2019 and later appeared as a single in 2020.
“Mimi Siwezi” is a simple song of surrender, built around the acknowledgement that human strength and ability are not enough without God. The group repeatedly turns the focus back to Jesus, creating an intimate and prayerful atmosphere.
The song was inspired by John 1:3 and came during preparations for Essence of Worship’s live recording in May 2019. Its straightforward message makes the song easy to sing along to while maintaining its focus on dependence and surrender.
With its gentle worshipful expression, “Mimi Siwezi” is a reminder to rely completely on Jesus and acknowledge Him as the source of all things.
