Dunsin Oyekan has encouraged Christians to become more intentional about strengthening their spiritual lives through consistent time in God’s Word.
He challenged believers to develop a personal discipline of not allowing food, phones and daily distractions to come before fellowship with God.
“You are gaining weight but you are losing strength in the spirit,” he said.
According to Oyekan, believers should regularly search the Scriptures to understand God’s expectations for their lives, pointing to Jesus reading from the scroll and recognising what had been written concerning His assignment.
“Make it a habit to spend time in the Word. Find where it is written of you.”
He also encouraged Christians to examine their progress honestly, asking whether they are becoming who God has called them to be or simply allowing time to pass.
Oyekan further argued that some difficult battles can reveal the significance of a person’s calling, using the biblical story of Moses as an example.
His message was simple: don’t feed everything around you while allowing your spirit to become weak.
Build your spiritual strength. Stay in the Word. Know what God has called you to become.
