Gospel Minister Victoria Orenze has called for greater balance in the way money and prosperity are taught in the church, warning against allowing the pursuit of wealth to overshadow biblical principles.
In a recent social media post, Orenze wrote:
“Some pastors are reading the money bible, not the Holy Bible!”
She explained that while she believes God desires believers to prosper, the church must also remember biblical warnings about the love of money and the importance of godliness and contentment.
According to Orenze, both pastors and believers have a responsibility to model truth, order and righteousness in a generation she described as increasingly affected by disorder and falsehood.
She urged Christians to be careful about their relationship with money and stressed that balance should remain central to teachings about giving, wealth and prosperity.
Orenze also clarified that giving remains part of the Christian faith, pointing to God’s giving of His Son in John 3:16 as an example of sacrificial love.
Her message ultimately called for prosperity teachings that encourage generosity and responsible stewardship without turning money into the centre of the gospel.
