Pastor Jack Hibbs urged Christians to speak openly about their beliefs and refuse to let fear determine how they live out their faith.
We cannot let fear dictate how we’re going to practice our faith,” Hibbs said during a Fox News discussion about religious freedom and Christians’ concerns about expressing their beliefs publicly.
His comments followed Pastor Lorenzo Sewell’s account of Christians in Dearborn, Michigan, who privately expressed support but were hesitant to speak out. Sewell recalled people telling him, “I’m with you, but I’m afraid to say it.”
Hibbs also held up a copy of the Mayflower Compact, calling it “our American birth certificate,” as the discussion turned to America’s religious heritage.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mindi 2 Timothy 1:7
