American rapper Snoop Dogg has shared a heartfelt message about God’s forgiveness, reflecting on how his late mother, Evangelist Beverly Tate, helped shape his faith and understanding of Christianity.
Speaking during an interview with gospel radio personality Erica Campbell in 2025, the legendary rapper explained that his upbringing in church played an important role in his life.
According to Snoop, his mother introduced him to the Bible at a young age and ensured that church fellowship remained part of his childhood.
The rapper, whose mother passed away in October 2021, revealed that her teachings and influence continue to guide his decisions.
“when my mother transitioned, it felt like her spirit became my spirit,” he shared.
Snoop explained that he continues to honour her memory by living according to the values she instilled in him.
The rapper also discussed his gospel album, Altar Call, released on April 27, 2025, to commemorate what would have been his mother’s birthday.
the project features gospel musicians and other artistes, including John P. Kee, Jamie Foxx, Mali Music and the Death Row Mass Choir.
Explaining the message behind the album, Snoop emphasised that people should not allow shame or past mistakes to prevent them from seeking God’s forgiveness.
“don’t feel shame, don’t feel like you’ve done too much to be forgiven. we have a forgiving God,” he declared.
He added that the invitation to surrender to God remains open to everyone, regardless of their past.
The rapper previously released his first gospel album, Bible of Love, in 2018, marking another significant expression of his christian upbringing.
His latest reflections highlight the lasting influence of his mother’s faith and his desire to use music to communicate messages of forgiveness, love and redemption.
