Faith-based Nollywood film Agbara Nla: The Return has recorded a major box-office milestone, grossing more than ₦170.6 million during its opening run in Nigerian cinemas.
According to box-office reports, the film achieved the biggest non-December opening for a Nollywood movie, the biggest October opening, and the biggest opening weekend recorded for a faith-based film.
The movie reportedly drew more than 28,000 admissions across its opening frame, following a strong preview run that had already generated over ₦70 million before the full weekend figures were counted.
Directed by Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, the film revisits the world of the original Agbara Nla, which became one of the defining productions of Nigeria’s Christian film movement decades ago.
Its strong cinema performance is being celebrated as another indication that faith-based Nigerian films can attract significant mainstream audiences.
