Nigerian gospel minister, worship leader, and multi-instrumentalist Japheth Fai presents a powerful declaration of praise in “Hallelujah.” The song, written in 2019, was birthed from a place of personal devotion, meditation, and reflection on the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Drawing inspiration from Luke 23, John 1, and Revelation 5, it centres on the freedom believers have received through Christ’s finished work.
At its heart, “Hallelujah” celebrates the redemption made possible through the death and resurrection of Jesus. It reflects on how Christ left His heavenly throne, came to earth, and gave His life for humanity. The song also draws attention to the account of the thief on the cross, highlighting the transforming power of grace and the gift of salvation.
Through its repeated declarations of Hallelujah and Hallelujah to the Lamb, the song creates an atmosphere of joyful thanksgiving and reverence. It reminds listeners that through Jesus, humanity has been redeemed from sin and bondage and given a reason to celebrate God’s unfailing love.
“Hallelujah” is more than a song of praise; it is a celebration of the victory believers have through Jesus Christ. With this heartfelt worship offering, Japheth Fai encourages listeners to honour the Lamb, acknowledge His sacrifice, and continually give God the glory.
