Pastor Emmanuel Iren has urged employers and business owners to pay workers promptly, describing timely salary payment as a matter of righteousness and basic consideration.

Speaking about the impact delayed wages can have on families, Iren said:

“It’s a matter of righteousness to pay people early.”

He stressed that for many workers, a salary is not simply extra income. It is how they pay for food, transportation, medical bills and other basic needs.

Iren criticized employers who repeatedly give excuses for delayed payment while continuing to spend money on personal comfort or luxury.

He asked employers to consider the real consequences of withholding someone’s wages, including situations where a worker may be unable to eat or pay an urgent hospital bill.

His warning was direct:

“Don’t let anybody report you to God.”

The broader message was that Christian leadership and business should be marked by justice, compassion and responsibility toward the people whose work helps keep an organization running.

Paying workers fairly and on time is not only good management. For Iren, it is also a moral obligation.
