Joshua Mike-Bamiloye has cautioned Christians and church leaders against measuring the spiritual maturity of gospel artists by their talent, popularity or success.
He said having more followers does not automatically mean greater spiritual authority, while large streaming numbers or powerful reactions during a ministration should not be treated as proof that someone is spiritually mature.
According to him, a person may be highly gifted while still struggling personally, pointing to the biblical story of Samson as an example of why gifting and character should not be confused.
Rather than quickly condemning ministers when they fall short, Mike-Bamiloye encouraged churches to provide accountability, correction, spiritual leadership and prayer, especially for younger music ministers.
“They’re not supernatural beings; they’re ordinary people entrusted with an extraordinary gift,” he wrote.
