Damilola Mike-Bamiloye has opened up about the emotional experience of directing his father, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, in a film project.
According to Damilola, one quality he deeply appreciates about his father is his humility and willingness to receive direction, even from his own son.
“He doesn’t even seem like, ‘Okay, my son is directing me, what do you know?’” he said.
Damilola explained that whenever he gave his father an instruction on how to perform a scene, Mike Bamiloye simply listened and carried it out.
For him, the experience became emotional because it brought back memories of growing up watching his father act.
“At a point, I was almost shedding tears because I just remembered, like a flashback, all the times when we were young, growing up and watching him act.”
The moment was not just about a son directing his father.
It was also a beautiful picture of humility, honour and one generation making room for the next.
