The father of late gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwani Sings, has spoken publicly about his son’s background, age and discussions surrounding where he should be laid to rest.
According to him, his son was originally given the Muslim name Sodiq before later converting to Christianity.
He also sought to correct reports about the singer’s age, stating that Toluwani Sings was born in 1992 and was 34 years old, not 44 as some reports had suggested.
“My son is 34 years old, not 44. people are just making assumptions. I, the father, know when I gave birth to him.”
The grieving father said Toluwani Sings lost his mother when he was about six months old, adding another personal detail to the late minister’s early life.
Recounting how he learnt of his son’s passing, he said he was attending a ceremony when he received a distressing call asking him to return home. according to him, he later began seeing photographs of his son circulating online with messages announcing his death.
He also described a disagreement over the burial location. according to his account, Toluwani Sings’ wife preferred that her husband be buried at a cemetery or church rather than inside their home.
The father said he initially wanted his son buried at his own house, but when that option was rejected, he suggested that the body be taken to the family village and laid to rest beside his late mother.
The comments represent the father’s account of the family discussions, and should not be interpreted as the wife’s full account or as evidence of a wider family dispute beyond what he personally described.
