Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a Christian leader in Plateau State, has continued to speak publicly about the violence affecting families and communities across the state.

In July 2026, Dachomo said nine members of his extended family had been killed in an attack and that, days later, he and members of his church received letters threatening further violence. He said the letters were handed over to Nigerian security agencies.

The wider scale of the suffering in Plateau is also documented.

In May 2025, Amnesty International reported that at least 2,630 people were killed in Plateau State during the first two years of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, as part of a wider security crisis involving attacks by armed groups across several northern states. That figure represents victims across affected communities and should not be presented as a count solely of Christians.

For Christians, seeking peace does not mean ignoring justice.

Forgiveness does not remove the responsibility to protect innocent people, investigate killings and hold perpetrators accountable.

Behind every statistic is a family grieving, an empty place at the table and a community trying to rebuild.

“If one part suffers, every part suffers with it.” — 1 Corinthians 12:26

Pray for grieving families. Pray for displaced communities. Pray for pastors and church leaders walking beside those who have lost everything. And pray that Nigeria’s leaders and security agencies will protect Christians, Muslims and every vulnerable community from further violence.

May justice, healing and lasting peace come to Plateau State and every part of Nigeria affected by bloodshed.
