Twelve time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte has publicly shared that he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized.
The American swimming champion announced the decision in a November 2, 2025 Instagram post, sharing footage and photos from his baptism. Lochte said that during this season of growth, he had come to understand that the only thing that truly matters is what God thinks of him.
He also expressed his gratitude for what he described as everything God is doing and will continue to do in his life, saying his heart was filled with love and happiness.
The baptism came during a difficult season for the Olympic champion. Lochte had previously spoken publicly about struggles following a serious accident and his battle with substance abuse. In 2025, he also shared that he had entered recovery and was maintaining his sobriety.
His testimony has since drawn attention as he speaks more openly about his faith journey and how his relationship with Jesus has become an important part of his life.
For Lochte, the baptism represents a public declaration of his renewed commitment to Christ and another chapter in his journey of faith, recovery, and personal transformation.
