UN Raises Alarm Over Killings, Forced Conversions of Christians in Nigeria

The United Nations has expressed serious concern over reports of killings, abductions, sexual violence, forced conversions, and other abuses affecting Christians and other religious minority communities in Nigeria, particularly in parts of Northern Nigeria and the Middle Belt.

The organization urged Nigerian authorities to take immediate steps to protect those at risk, ensure the safe return of abducted persons, investigate reported abuses, and bring perpetrators to justice. It warned that a culture of impunity could further worsen the situation if decisive action is not taken.
