Bayo Akinjiyan , who resigned as an Assistant Provincial Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has said that many church workers and junior pastors are in slavery in the hands of top pastors.

While pointing out that many of the pastors are “nice, refined, and godly,” he said some of them live
“larger than life.” He described how the top pastors take advantage of millions of worshipers in the name of worship.

Akinjiyan, a pastor for over 23 years, spoke of how people around the General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, prevent other people from seeing him, even at his (Adeboye) request. He said he has been suffering in silence.

According to him, his property at Redemption camp was taking away from him when he left the church, a situation which he described as bad.

He said he received a cheque that was 15% the value of the property after he met with the Asst. General Overseer, Admin & Personnel, Pastor J. F. Odesola.

He added that if a pastor at a parish cannot “buy a bottle of coke” after a laborious service without being queried by auditors, then other senior pastors should not be allowed to do the same.

He spoke of how a pastor (in Nigeria) was allegedly forced to resign after his first wife walked out on their marriage and he wanted to take a second wife, but another pastor (a widower in the U.S), according to him, was “joined in Holy Matrimony” to
a divorcee who had three children from her previous marriage, and her former husband is still alive.
