Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has called on Nigerians to pray for the country’s political leaders, admitting that politicians and poor leadership are major problems affecting Nigeria.
Speaking at Koinonia Global, the ministry led by Apostle Joshua Selman, Peter Obi stated, “We are the problem of the country. There’s nothing wrong with Nigeria. What is wrong in Nigeria is the leadership, the politicians God created in this country.”
He urged Nigerians to pray that God would touch the hearts of political leaders to use public resources for the benefit of citizens rather than for personal gain.
“Let God touch our hearts to use public money for public good. Let God touch us to stop stealing. That is why people are suffering here,” he said.
Obi maintained that Nigeria has sufficient resources to significantly improve the lives of its citizens if the country’s wealth is properly managed and invested.
His remarks have sparked conversations about leadership, accountability, corruption, public resources, and the role of prayer in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
He also urged Nigerians not to make their prayers partisan, calling on them to remember all politicians regardless of political affiliation.
Peter Obi’s message ultimately placed responsibility on the political class, while calling for both better leadership and greater accountability in the management of Nigeria’s public resources.
