Smart Takyi Nixon has spoken about the importance of accountability in relationships, especially when it comes to money, personal growth and correction.
Using financial transparency as an example, he said that when one partner asks how money was spent, the question should not automatically be treated as an attack.
“When your partner is asking you to tell them what you use money for, it is not an attack. It is a sense of accountability.”
He also argued that encouraging a partner to improve or make better decisions can be an expression of love rather than criticism.
According to Nixon, healthy relationships should create room for honest questions, correction and responsibility, particularly when decisions affect both people.
His broader message is that love should not mean avoiding difficult conversations.
Accountability is not hostility. Sometimes, caring enough to ask questions and challenge each other to do better is part of love.
