Nigerian cleric Femi Lazarus has unveiled plans to create a trust fund dedicated to supporting young girls dealing with teenage pregnancy across Nigeria.
The proposed initiative, which is still in development, aims to offer financial aid, access to education, and professional counseling to teenage mothers who often struggle with rejection, stigma, and a lack of opportunities. The goal is to provide practical support that will help them rebuild their lives and secure better futures.
Speaking on the vision behind the project, Lazarus stressed that both the church and the wider society must shift from criticism to compassion. He noted that many young girls facing unplanned pregnancies are left without emotional support, financial stability, or institutional guidance, making it difficult for them to continue their schooling or pursue meaningful goals.
Teenage pregnancy continues to pose serious social and economic challenges in several parts of Nigeria, especially in underserved communities where reproductive health education and economic empowerment opportunities are limited. Without structured intervention, many affected girls risk dropping out of school permanently, facing financial hardship, and experiencing long-term social exclusion.
The proposed trust fund seeks to address these gaps by creating a system of sustained support rather than temporary relief, giving vulnerable teenage mothers a renewed chance at stability and growth.
