Pastor David Ibiyeomie has spoken against tribalism within Christianity, stressing that the Church should not become an extension of ethnic or cultural divisions.

According to the founder of Salvation Ministries, Christianity that is built around tribal identity cannot effectively fulfil its purpose because the Gospel of Jesus Christ is meant for people from every tribe, nation, and background.

“Christianity that is tribalistic will not go far. The church is not supposed to be a cultural society,” David Ibiyeomie said.

His remarks challenge Christians to look beyond ethnic affiliations and embrace the unity that should exist among believers. While culture can influence how people express themselves, Ibiyeomie stressed that it should not become the basis for determining who belongs in the Church.

The statement also highlights the universal nature of Christianity, where people from different tribes and cultures are brought together by their faith in Christ.

For Ibiyeomie, the Church should remain centred on Jesus Christ rather than becoming a platform for promoting tribal interests or cultural divisions.
