Apostle Michael Orokpo has emphasized that the relevance of a church should not be measured by the size of its congregation, but by the presence of God among His people.
According to Orokpo, having a large number of people does not automatically mean that a church is fulfilling its purpose. He pointed believers back to the importance of God’s presence as the foundation of genuine Christian gatherings.
His statement challenges the growing emphasis on numbers, popularity and outward success in some church settings. While a large congregation can be a blessing, Orokpo’s message suggests that numerical growth should never become more important than the spiritual reality within the church.
The presence of God, he stressed, is what gives the church its true identity and relevance. Without it, a gathering may have the appearance of success while lacking the spiritual substance that should distinguish the church.
His message therefore encourages churches and believers to prioritize God’s presence above numbers, popularity and recognition, remembering that the ultimate purpose of the church is to honor God and help people encounter Him.
