Pastor Dolapo Lawal has urged Christians to examine the kind of music they regularly consume, arguing that devotion to God should also influence personal entertainment choices.

“You can’t say you’ve given God your life and you can’t give Him your playlist,” he said.

Lawal argued that believers should think carefully about what they repeatedly allow into their minds through music, especially content that may encourage desires or values contrary to their faith.

He also shared that during a 30-day challenge in which participants avoided secular music, several people personally told him that their struggle with pornography reduced after changing what they listened to.

That experience, as he presented it, was their personal testimony rather than proof that music alone causes or cures such struggles.

Referencing Galatians 5:16, Lawal said the Christian response to temptation should not only be about constantly fighting sin, but intentionally filling one’s life with things that strengthen spiritual consciousness.

“Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh,” he said.

His message was clear: Christians should be intentional about their playlists because what repeatedly enters the mind can influence what occupies the heart.
