Apostle Arome Osayi has warned that a lukewarm church can become vulnerable to spiritual decline, contrasting the present state of Christianity in Africa with what he described as the sacrificial spirit of earlier revival movements.
“When the church becomes lukewarm, it means that the church is susceptible to invasion,” he said.
Osayi reflected on the revival era of the 1970s, saying many believers were willing to leave familiar environments, learn new languages and endure hardship simply because they were convinced God had called them to serve.
According to him, those believers were not primarily motivated by comfort or material reward.
“All he wanted to do was to serve the will of God,” Osayi said.
His central message was that the church must recover deep conviction, sacrifice and commitment to God’s mission rather than becoming driven mainly by comfort and material gain.
