Apostle Michael Orokpo has reminded believers that surviving difficult seasons is not always a reflection of human strength, but often a testimony of God’s mercy and help.
Reflecting on a difficult period in his own life, Orokpo recalled someone describing him as a strong man because of what he had endured.
His response was simple: “I’m not strong, I was helped.”
According to him, many people who appear strong today have faced situations that could have completely broken them, but God preserved them through circumstances they may not even fully understand.
He explained that what sometimes looks like an inconvenience or delay could actually be an act of divine preservation, such as missing a journey, being delayed unexpectedly or losing an opportunity that could have led to danger.
“You are not winning because you are fast. You are not winning because you are strong. You are winning because God is merciful,” he said.
Referencing Lamentations 3:22–23, Orokpo stressed that it is through God’s mercies that people are not consumed.
His message: when you see someone still standing after many storms, don’t assume they simply had enough strength. Sometimes, they were carried by mercy.
