Nigerian gospel minister Dunsin Oyekan has encouraged Christians to develop a personal relationship with God rather than depending entirely on prophets, dreams or other individuals for direction concerning their lives.
Speaking about the importance of spiritual growth and understanding Scripture, the gospel singer emphasised that believers should not allow prophetic messages to replace their personal knowledge of God’s Word.
According to Oyekan, prophecy should serve as a confirmation of what God has already communicated to a believer rather than becoming the primary source of spiritual direction.
He challenged Christians to take responsibility for their spiritual development by spending time studying the Bible and building their own relationship with God.
The gospel minister also described the Bible as a “manual for life,” stressing his belief that Scripture provides guidance for believers in different areas of their lives.
His message reflects his position that Christians should not become so dependent on spiritual revelations from others that they neglect their own study of God’s Word.
Rather than dismissing prophecy entirely, Oyekan’s emphasis was on ensuring that prophetic messages do not take the place of personal spiritual growth and biblical understanding.
He encouraged believers to become more familiar with Scripture and develop confidence in their relationship with God.
