Apostle Michael Orokpo has criticised what he described as the pursuit of material wealth among some individuals who identify as prophets, arguing that genuine prophetic ministry should be measured by its spiritual impact rather than luxury possessions.

Speaking about the responsibilities of prophets, the cleric questioned the priorities of religious leaders who focus on acquiring expensive watches, cars and mansions.

“When you find prophets pursuing Gucci watches and wrist watches, pursuing cars, pursuing mansions, you know that those ones are not prophets. they are hyenas,” he stated.

According to Orokpo, possessing spiritual gifts, including the word of knowledge, does not automatically establish someone as a genuine prophet.

He argued that the defining evidence of prophetic ministry should be the righteousness it produces in people’s lives and society.

“The seal of a prophet is the righteousness that he establishes over nations,” he explained.

The apostle further described prophetic ministry as a calling that should influence people toward righteous living rather than personal enrichment.

“The power of a prophet is that he’s able to bring righteousness to the world,” he said.

His remarks challenge believers to examine the values and priorities demonstrated by those who claim prophetic authority.

Orokpo’s message emphasises his belief that spiritual influence should be demonstrated through righteousness rather than the accumulation of material possessions.
