The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared a nationwide Black Sunday to honour Nigerians who have lost their lives or been affected by the country’s worsening insecurity.
CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, described the growing cases of terrorism, banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks as a national tragedy that has left countless families grieving and communities devastated.
“Our nation is bleeding, and the Church cannot remain silent while innocent lives are lost and families live in fear,” the association said.
CAN called on governments at all levels to take urgent action to protect lives and property, while urging churches and faith-based institutions to strengthen security measures and remain vigilant.
The association also encouraged Nigerians to stay united, resilient, and prayerful as the nation continues to face security challenges.
