GOSPEL news: Pastor W.F. Kumuyi Reflects on His Late Wife’s Passing and His Continued Mission

Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, recently spoke openly about the loss of his wife, Abiodun Kumuyi, who passed away on April 11, 2009, at the age of 57 following a brief illness. The couple had been married for nearly 28 years, having tied the knot on September 13, 1980. They shared two sons, Jeremiah and John.

While recalling the painful moment, Pastor Kumuyi expressed the emotional toll her passing had on him, but also reaffirmed his dedication to their shared spiritual mission. He shared that on the day of her death, he had been ministering during a service, unaware that tragedy had struck at home.

“I was preaching that Saturday morning,” he recounted, “not knowing what had happened at home. By the time I returned, I was informed that my beloved wife had passed away. I found people praying, and the Lord gave me peace, instructing me to let it go.”

Instead of allowing grief to paralyze him, Pastor Kumuyi turned his loss into fuel for deeper spiritual commitment. He described his response as a form of “spiritual retaliation” against the enemy, intensifying his ministry efforts both within Nigeria and across the globe.

“Since then,” he said, “I’ve traveled extensively, reaching nearly every local government area in Nigeria, many countries across Africa, and all continents. We’ve witnessed the miraculous—blind eyes opened, the deaf hearing, the lame walking, and now even the dead being raised. It’s my way of pushing forward, ensuring that nothing else will be taken from us.”

Encouraging others, he declared with renewed conviction: “What’s past is past. From now on, in your life and family, you will take charge. Wherever I go, I’ll take authority—nothing will be allowed to be stolen again.”
