Bishop David Oyedepo has challenged Christians to become more courageous about publicly identifying with their faith in Jesus Christ.
Referring to the recent incident aboard a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, Oyedepo noted that the co-pilot reportedly asked the captain for permission to pray while they were in the air.
He then turned the example into a challenge for believers:
“Many Christians cannot put a ‘Jesus is Lord’ sticker on their car. What kind of Christianity is that?”
Oyedepo’s point was about boldness. He argued that Christians should not become so concerned about public opinion that they are afraid to openly acknowledge Jesus.
The flight incident itself later became far more serious. Authorities say the co-pilot attacked the captain shortly after asking to pray and allegedly intended to crash the aircraft. The plane was ultimately brought under control and landed safely.
For Oyedepo, the lesson for Christians was simple: if you truly believe in Christ, do not be ashamed to let the world know where you stand.
Faith should not only be private.
