Pastor Philip Olubakin has spoken about temptation, sexual dissatisfaction and the personal responsibility required to remain faithful in marriage.
He acknowledged that neglect within a marriage can sometimes create conditions where a spouse becomes more vulnerable to outside attention.
Someone at work may begin checking on you, caring for you, giving you attention or meeting emotional needs you feel are missing at home.
But according to him, none of that removes personal responsibility.
“The fact that there is a trigger does not mean that we have to now yield to it,” he said.
He went further:
“Selfishness is a core factor for infidelity. It is absolutely impossible for you to be thinking about your spouse and how they will feel while you are sleeping with someone else.”
Olubakin also reflected on growing up in a polygamous family and witnessing firsthand some of the pain and complications that came with it, saying those experiences shaped how seriously he views faithfulness in marriage.
