Apostle Johnson Suleman has shared his perspective on marriage, explaining that couples should not expect to experience intense romantic feelings every day, as there will be moments when their spouse’s character and kindness become more important than emotions.
Speaking during a sermon, the founder of Omega Fire Ministries explained that marriage involves different emotional seasons and that even couples who genuinely love each other may not always feel romantically excited.
“You will not always be in love. When you get married, you begin to understand. You are not going to always be in love,” he said.
Using his own marriage as an example, Apostle Suleman explained that although he loves his wife, there are days when their relationship feels ordinary rather than particularly romantic.
According to him, such moments are normal and should not automatically be interpreted as a lack of love.
He humorously described how spouses may sometimes behave in ways that make their partners question their decision to marry them.
“There are some days I will behave like this, you will say, ‘Wait, so of everybody in this world, this is the one that I came to marry?’”
He added that there may also be moments when he reacts similarly to something his wife does.
However, the cleric explained that what helps couples remain committed during those moments is not necessarily the excitement of romance but the positive qualities they have experienced in each other.
“Do you know what keeps you? The character of the person. The kindness of that person,” he stated.
According to Apostle Suleman, the way spouses treat each other and the kindness they demonstrate over time can become important reasons for remaining committed when romantic feelings are less intense.
His message highlights his belief that marriage requires more than emotional excitement and that character plays an important role in sustaining a relationship.
