Bishop David Oyedepo has urged believers to remain consistently committed to Scripture, warning against depending only on Sunday services for spiritual nourishment.
“The Word makes wise. Stay committed to the Word,” he said.
Referencing 2 Timothy 3:15, Oyedepo pointed to Paul’s words to Timothy about knowing the Holy Scriptures from childhood and how they are able to make a person “wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
“Don’t be a Sunday feeder,” he added. “Don’t starve yourself to death.”
He also drew from Proverbs 8, emphasizing the importance of seeking God’s wisdom daily.
According to Oyedepo, wisdom from God’s Word produces more than knowledge. He said it brings life, understanding and favour.
“Good understanding triggers favour,” he said, referencing Proverbs 13:15.
Oyedepo encouraged believers to make engagement with Scripture a lifestyle rather than an occasional activity.
“Please love the wisdom of God in His Word. Engage with that as a lifestyle,” he said.
His message was simple: consistent exposure to God’s Word develops wisdom, and wisdom shapes the way a believer lives.
