Bishop David Oyedepo has spoken strongly against religious and ethnic divisions in Nigerian politics, declaring that the country belongs equally to its citizens.
“Muslims don’t own Nigeria. We are not tenants,” Oyedepo said, while warning political leaders against actions that could deepen division in the country.
He stressed that no Nigerian has a greater claim to the country than another, adding: “We own this country together.”
The cleric also warned against what he described as a “gang-up against the Church” and maintained that political leaders do not own Nigeria.
“Politicians don’t own the nation. Nigerians own the nation,” he said.
