Apostle Emmanuel Iren has warned married people about allowing constant comparison to quietly create dissatisfaction in their homes.
He explained that what people repeatedly watch and pay attention to can shape their expectations, sometimes without them even realizing it.
Using marriage as an example, Iren said a woman could constantly observe how other men treat their wives and gradually become dissatisfied with her own husband, creating what he described as a “secret competition” that the husband may not even know exists.
“You can watch the way other people treat their wives and lose contentment in your home,” he said.
His message was not that couples should ignore genuine problems, but that comparison can quietly distort gratitude and expectations if the heart is not guarded.
Quoting the biblical principle of guarding one’s heart, Iren encouraged believers to be intentional not only about what they give attention to, but also about what they choose to avoid.
Not everything you see in another marriage should become the standard for your own.
