Apostle Emmanuel Iren has expressed strong admiration for Nigerian gospel rapper Greatman Takit, declaring that he would choose him above other rappers in Nigeria, regardless of whether they perform gospel or secular music.
Speaking during a message about musical excellence, talent and anointing, the clergyman praised the level of skill possessed by musicians within the christian community.
According to him, many gospel artistes are exceptionally talented, but their abilities are sometimes overlooked because people focus mainly on the spiritual grace and anointing associated with their ministry.
“Our people are talented though. church people sometimes, because they carry it with a lot of grace and anointing, you don’t see the gifts,” he explained.
Apostle Iren went on to highlight the exceptional abilities of instrumentalists within the christian music community, arguing that spiritual anointing should not be mistaken for a replacement for musical skill.
He referred to the technical abilities of accomplished bass guitarists and a trumpet player who had previously performed in a jazz band before entering ministry.
According to him, such musicians demonstrate years of experience, dedication and musical understanding that cannot simply be attributed to prayer.
“That, my friends, is skill,” he emphasised.
Turning his attention to rap music, the clergyman made a bold declaration about Greatman Takit’s abilities.
“Of all the rappers in Nigeria, i’m not saying in church, of all the rappers in Nigeria, my money is on Greatman,” he declared.
His statement makes it clear that his admiration for Greatman extends beyond the gospel music industry, as he personally considers the christian rapper capable of standing alongside other leading Nigerian rap artistes.
The remarks highlight Apostle Iren’s belief that gospel musicians should be recognised not only for their spiritual expressions but also for their creativity, technical abilities and artistic excellence.
